Zarafa and Custom Technology team to bring European Exchange Alternative to the Australia & New Zealand market.

SYDNEY, Australia -- April 7, 2011 – Custom Technology has announced today its partnership with Zarafa. The partnership will see CustomTech providing value added distribution of Zarafa's products and related services in Australia and New Zealand.

“We look forward to delivering enhanced software and professional services to Zarafa customers and resellers in Australia and New Zealand by building on Custom Technology's extensive experience with groupware technology on Linux”, said Commercial Director of Zarafa, John Duurkoop.

“Zarafa offers customers looking for a business class Linux server based solution for Outlook users, smart phones users, and Mac & Linux users, a dynamic, growing alternative”, said CustomTech Managing Director Gordon Hubbard. “So we are very pleased to add Zarafa to our product portfolio.”

Zarafa combines the usability of Outlook with the stability and flexibility of a Linux server. Not only is Outlook supported natively, but users can also use WebAccess, which has the same look and feel as Web 2.0 Outlook. ActiveSync-compatible mobile devices are also supported and BlackBerry handhelds via the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

Benefits of Zarafa:
• Effective communication by sharing e-mail, calendars and contacts
• Unrivalled, stable Outlook Sharing
• Cost-effective: initial investment and upgrade cost less than 50% of MS Exchange
• Enhanced security with centralised data storage
• Platform independent: available for several Linux distributions
• Compatible with Firefox and Internet Explorer
• Active Directory plugin allows Zarafa to be easily integrated into your existing Windows network
• Based on open standards

Zarafa WebAccess has an Outlook “Look & Feel” but is accessed through either Internet Explorer or Firefox. Using WebAccess you can access all your e-mail, calendars, contacts and tasks wherever you are.

Z-Push is an open-source ActiveSync implementation that synchronizes email, contacts, calendar and tasks with Zarafa. Compatible devices include Apple iPhone, Android, Palm Treos, Windows Mobile and Windows Phone 7 based smart phones. BlackBerry devices are integrated with Zarafa by using the BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) or BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express (BES Express).

Zarafa supports MAPI, POP3, IMAP, iCAL and Caldav and most email and calendaring clients using these protocols including Outlook, Thunderbird, Sunbird and the Mac OS X iCal Client. Zarafa also supports integration with O3Spaces. Zarafa server runs on most Linux servers (e.g. Red Hat, SuSE, Ubuntu LTS and Debian) and is also certified for the Univention Corporate Server (UCS) enterprise Linux operating system were it integrates tightly with the Univention management tools. Both O3Spaces and Univention are distributed by Custom Technology in ANZ.
