Utrecht, the Netherlands, November 26, 2010 – Capgemini, one of the world’s foremost providers of consulting, technology and outsourcing services, today announced that one of its Dutch subsidiaries, Capgemini Nederland B.V. (“Capgemini”), has entered into an open alliance with six Open Source vendors in the Netherlands. The unique alliance, comprising six best-of-breed vendors, is aimed at providing a single point of contact for Capgemini’s customers who are using Open Source.

Under the alliance, Capgemini aims to support its account managers, project leaders and architects with their Open Source queries. Importantly, it showcases Capgemini’s belief in Open Source.

Capgemini positions Open Source as a brand next to Microsoft, Oracle, SAP and IBM and is offering a Total Open Source Stack.

Speaking on the unique alliance, Leo Cardinaals, Capgemini’s Open Source Alliance Manager, said, “The alliance showcases Capgemini’s vision for Open Source. After all, Open Source is mature, more innovative, at times has better quality and is at the least equal to proprietary solutions. The alliance brings together best-of-breed vendors that would enable customers to leverage a platform where these vendors are collaborating best with each other. It is a full-fledged alliance with an end-to-end proposition. This includes consultancy, support and maintenance (on-site, remote or outsourced).”

The six vendors in the alliance are: Zarafa, Red Hat, Hippo, Ingres, Pentaho and SugarCRM. “Commenting on the alliance, Brian Joseph, CEO at Zarafa, said: “Zarafa is delighted to join the Capgemini Open Source Alliance which represents many of our ecosystem partners. We fully trust that customers in public and private organizations will benefit from this single point of contact.”

“In the near future, Capgemini also has plans of making unique offerings with individual partners or a combination of them,” adds Leo Cardinaals.
