Bossung to Serve as Sr. Vice President, Sales for Web Mapping Leader

New York, July 7, 2010 – OpenGeo today announced that Kenneth Bossung has been appointed senior vice president of sales. With deep experience in geospatial web services, IT and systems integration professional services, Bossung brings a strong combination of sales expertise and entrepreneurial leadership to the web-based geospatial technology provider.

A former founder and partner at IONIC Enterprise, Bossung defined and led strategic sales and business development activities for the OGC web services pioneer. After IONIC’s acquisition by software leader ERDAS Inc. in 2007, Bossung led commercial sales in Canada, the US and Latin America, overseeing ERDAS partners and a direct sales force.

OpenGeo President Chris Holmes commented on Bossung’s appointment: “Ken comes to OpenGeo with an incredible track record and a deep knowledge of both our industry and the clients we serve. From a web services sales and business development perspective he has done and seen it all. We know our clients and partners will benefit from Ken’s expertise, energy and commitment.”

When asked about his new role, Bossung noted: “OpenGeo is poised for explosive growth - especially with the 2.0 release of its OpenGeo Suite Enterprise Edition. The Suite is the first geospatial web-mapping solution to offer unlimited support on a complete open source mapping stack and include PostGIS. Every sales executive wants to work with a product that defines a business category and there is nothing on the market for large-scale geospatial mapping projects that comes close to the OpenGeo Suite.”

Prior to his time at IONIC, Bossung served as director of business development for KSolutions, Inc., a knowledge management software and services company. He also served as director of sales at Align360, a division of Renaissance Worldwide, Inc., an information and technology solutions and services company. Bossung has a degree from the University of Kentucky in civil engineering and was a recipient of the Presidents Award at Renaissance Worldwide two years in a row.
