During this exciting CeBIT week in Hannover (Germany), Zarafa would like to keep you informed of our latest news.

Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung (part of the German Ministry of the Interior) Extends Contract

The Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung (bpb), part of the German Ministry of Interior Affairs, needed a new groupware server to replace its outdated Exchange 5.5. The Version 2003 would have put the IT budget under stress. After an extensive market research and technical analysis bpb opted for Zarafa. It fitted to bpb’s strategy to use Linux and Open Source on the server side in the back-end while leaving the Microsoft-based Desktops untouched as wanted. This solution allowed the integration of BlackBerrys in use, but most important: cut the total costs for the groupware server down to 30 %.

The migration project was done at a weekend in April 2009. E-Mail and Groupware were working fine on Monday morning. Blackberries took a few more days, but a solution was created by Zarafa. Since then the Groupware just runs fine. Minor bugs were found, reported to and corrected very soon by Zarafa. The support is regarded as excellent.

Now after using Zarafa for one year, bpb has decided to extend the Zarafa contract.
