Significant Revenue Gains, Customer Acquisition and Technology Innovation Attributed to Demand for Legacy Alternatives to Manage Virtual and Cloud IT Infrastructures

Austin, TX -- January 28, 2010 -- Zenoss, Inc., a leading commercial open source provider of Unlegacy enterprise IT management products, today announced the company achieved strong revenue, customer, and technology innovation growth in 2009. Fueled by growing demand by brand name enterprises seeking an alternative to legacy enterprise IT management tools to maximize their investments in virtualized and cloud infrastructures, Zenoss had revenue growth of 150% in 2009 with Zenoss Enterprise customers now approaching 300 and over one million downloads of the company’s Zenoss Core open source project to date.

Among the new Zenoss Enterprise customers in 2009 were Hosting.com, Agilent Technologies, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and Real Networks while leading organizations such as Carlson, Deutsche Bank, Rackspace Hosting, iStock International, and Motorola renewed their agreements with Zenoss.

In 2009, Zenoss established itself as the leading provider of commercial open source monitoring for virtual environments, public and private clouds with the addition of VMware monitoring capabilities and support for Amazon Web Services instances (EC2). The 75,000-member strong Zenoss community also contributed over 75 ZenPacks, or community-developed plug-ins, bringing the total to more than 150.

“We are very pleased with the progress of our company and systems management product in the last year, and can attribute that success to our talented team, community members and growing acceptance of the advantages of commercial open source software,” said Bill Karpovich, CEO of Zenoss Inc. ““This past year we saw a strong push by customers to reduce datacenter costs through increased use of virtualization and cloud technologies. This has given rise to a new set of management challenges and with IT organizations struggling to embrace the new dynamic datacenter, Zenoss is well positioned to help companies manage these new environments in 2010.”

Zenoss also expanded the executive team with the addition of former NetIQ/Mission Critical Software executive Olivier Thierry as Chief Marketing Officer. Sean McDermott, chairman and founder of Windward IT Solutions and formerly founder and CEO of RealOps, Inc., which was sold to BMC in 2007, was added to the company’s Board of Directors. Additionally, Bill Kennedy, CEO & President of Hyper9 and former executive at WaveSet (sold to Sun Microsystems in 2003) and IBM Tivoli and Albert “Ab” Krall, a 27-year veteran of Accenture, were added to the company’s advisory board.

Zenoss partnered with Red Hat to become a founding member of the Open Source Channel Alliance in 2009, along with industry leaders such as Alfresco, Enterprise DB, Ingres, Jaspersoft, Likewise, Pentaho and Zmanda. The company also received several industry accolades, including:

 Finalist for the Software & Information Industry Association’s (SIIA) CODiE Awards in the Best Open Source Solution category.
 Winner of the Jolt Productivity Award in the highly competitive Enterprise Tools category.
 Winner of the “Most Innovative Enterprise Software” award from the CompTIA SoftwareCEO Software Innovation Awards.
