ATLANTA, October 20, 2009 – New software released today by Racemi decreases time servers are down for maintenance, reduces storage costs, and simplifies data center management. New features in Racemi DynaCenter 3.0 will save IT departments money, plus help automate and simplify data center operations to improve administrators’ productivity.

Racemi’s next-generation image-based provisioning software adds Live Capture to acquire the running system image on Linux and UNIX servers without taking servers out of production or rebooting, which means greater uptime and faster service turn around.

In addition, the DynaCenter image profile now enables operators to designate specific file systems or disks to capture instead of defaulting to an entire system capture. This option eliminates costly storage redundancy, and taken with Live Capture, the new options provide much greater control and flexibility for capturing system images.

Another storage improvement in DynaCenter 3.0 is a “scale-to-fit” option that automatically sizes a captured image to the disk of another physical or virtual server, allowing quicker, easier system migrations. Intelligent Image Scaling can even shrink the image from a physical server to fit a smaller virtual server, enabling smooth physical to virtual transition. The feature cuts many complex steps from conventional provisioning processes, saving up to 60 percent of the administrator’s time versus manual operation.

Also, version 3.0 provides a simpler way to collect and manage licensed drivers for Windows servers. The DynaCenter software maintains a central driver repository which it checks against during provisioning, automatically injecting drivers for the target hardware.

“We’re enabling hands-free automation with this significant update that improves overall data center management,” said Lawrence Guillory, CEO of Racemi. “Our DynaCenter 3.0 software is engineered so that it integrates with other data center automation software without requiring a separate user interface. ISVs and administrators can stick with the interface they already know.”

Racemi software uses virtualization and data center automation technology to capture the entire "personality" of a system, including Windows, Linux and UNIX operating systems, applications and storage and network configurations, in a single bootable image. This image has the ability to automatically migrate to dissimilar hardware, including physical and virtual systems, while maintaining the personality of the original server.

About DynaCenter
Racemi has carefully designed its image creation and management platform to seamlessly integrate into other software applications and hardware, enabling OEMs to use powerful Racemi image-based provisioning and image management technology to further enhance their solutions and provide more value to their customers especially for disaster recovery, data center automation and cloud computing applications.
