Zimory Public Cloud brings together both sellers and buyers of computing resources via an easy online trading platform

BERLIN, Germany – January 26, 2009 – The reality of cloud computing takes a major step forward this week when Zimory GmbH – a spinoff of Deutsche Telekom -- unveils Zimory Public Cloud, an online marketplace that for the first time brings together buyers and sellers of computing resources.

Zimory Public Cloud provides companies of all sizes instant, easy and flexible access to external computing power worldwide while also enabling businesses with excess server capacity to offer their resources to businesses around the world.

"The ultimate value in, and continued innovations from, cloud computing come with high degrees of interoperability and openness across cloud boundaries, standards and models,” said Dana Gardner, principal analyst, Interarbor Solutions. “As has been clear from general economics, nothing prompts and protects openness and interoperability more than transparent and easy to enter and exit marketplaces. Enterprise users, developers, ISVs, startups, SaaS creators -- all will benefit from an open and understood cloud services marketplace. As early adopters, they should insist that their cloud-based assets and labors be perpetually afforded lock-in-less lifecycles, and not more varieties of walled gardens, albeit in the sky."

Zimory Public Cloud for sellers aggregates available server computing capacity from around the world and makes it available through an Internet trading platform. Using Zimory Public Cloud, companies looking for computing resources can buy capacity quickly -- as needed -- without long-term contractual commitment. Zimory handles pricing, contracts, security, virtual machine migration and billing.

“Zimory Public Cloud makes the most of IT resources – fast, easy and cost-effectively – the dream of cloud computing,” said Behrend Freese, CEO, Zimory. “Dynamically bringing together buyers and sellers in a secure environment is the best way to accomplish this.”

Getting Started
Creating a Zimory Public Cloud account is no more difficult than creating a Gmail account. Simply go to https://cloud.zimory.com/faces/jsp/registration.jsp and provide your name, login, password, credit card and contact e-mail address. Once an account is created, you select an operating system or a complete appliance. Zimory lets you select from a range of appliances from a simple Linux or Windows image to fully-configured application stack, i.e. a Wiki, a CMS system or a LAMP stack.

Lastly, Zimory allows you to see, evaluate and select your partner based on your personal requirements. You can select the geographical location of the physical data center and the quality of the service (Bronze, Silver and Gold). Changing this selection for a later deployment is simple – no lock-in.

Press start and the computing resource is ready in a matter of minutes.

Service Level Agreements
Zimory has simplified the buying and selling process by standardizing service level agreements (SLAs). Sellers choose gold, silver or bronze based on availability and security certifications. Buyers select the SLA they need for their deployment based on price and their specific requirements. More information on the SLAs is here: http://zimory.com/index.php?id=34.

Zimory’s Enterprise Cloud, already available, combines existing different virtual servers (currently Xen and VMware) into a homogeneous computing cloud – enabling data center managers to move applications quickly within a single or multiple locations.

About Zimory
A spin-off of Deutsche Telekom Laboratories, Zimory is at the forefront of Cloud Computing – enabling dynamic, on-demand movement of applications automatically between servers in one or many locations, as well as creating the world’s first marketplace for computing capacity. Based in Berlin, the company develops a dynamic infrastructure solution for data centers to create a modern Adaptive IT Infrastructure – enabling IT to improve flexibility and reduce operating costs.
