Openkm is a open source document management system licenced on GNU GPL V2 based on java technologies ( Jboss, Jackrabbit, Lucene, GWT- Google Web Toolkit ) useful for any enterprises intented to organize and share documents. Paco Avila and his team started OpenKM project at 2006 with a roadmap project since 2009. At middle 2006 appears GWT, still on a Beta, but the OpenKM Team decided to adopt this newest technology to create UI web client. At first time we have the idea to create a web client and a native one, but the good results with ajax UI, using GWT framework make us to decide non create native one.

OpenKM core project is based on Jackrabbit repository ( jcr-170 compliance ). It can be configured to any DBMS and a clustered repository for great size installations. The OpenKM Webservices API enables to connect OpenKM to other applications.
