rPath Launches Certified Software Appliance Architect Curriculum

RALEIGH, NC (July 10, 2007) – rPath™, provider of the first platform for creating and maintaining software and virtual appliances, today announced it is launching a Certified Software Appliance Architect training curriculum, which will give participants the skills needed to build, deploy and maintain software appliances. The curriculum will employ a hands-on, lab-driven approach and focus on application packaging, software appliance design, image construction, lifecycle management, and virtualization
Customers are demanding simpler methods of purchasing, using, and managing applications. Software vendors are satisfying this demand through software appliances, delivered in either virtual machine or physical hardware formats. rPath's new Certified Software Appliance Architect curriculum provides application developers with the technical knowledge they need to deliver software appliances that are simple for customers to install and maintain.
“The goal of this training curriculum is to enable software vendors to dramatically reduce the complexity of their applications by embracing the latest technology for software appliances and server virtualization,” said Erik Troan, rPath founder and CTO. “For participants, the skill-set provided by this curriculum will put them in the forefront of the software appliance and virtualization adoption curve, giving them valuable career skills and setting them apart from their peers.”
The first course in the curriculum consists of three days of intensive hands-on classroom sessions followed by a lab-based certification. The classroom time enables students to become proficient in appliance concepts, while developing the skills necessary to build and maintain physical and virtual appliances. Students passing the certification test are awarded a professional certificate validating their status as rPath Certified Software Appliance Architects.
The rPTS-101 Certified Software Appliance Architect course and rPTS-101C Certification Exam will be held for the first time on August 20, 2007, in San Francisco. Students must apply by August 7 and class size is limited to 12 students. The course will also be delivered in September at rPath's corporate headquarters in Raleigh, NC. Additional scheduled classes will be posted soon on rPath's web site.
