Software industry veteran joins company as founding engineer is elected to board of Software Freedom Conservancy

RALEIGH, N.C. (June 14, 2006) rPath, provider of the first platform for creating and maintaining Linux software appliances, today announced it has hired Brett Adam as vice president of product development. Adams 20 years of experience in the software industry include high-level executive positions and senior level positions in software architecture, engineering, product management, marketing, sales and corporate development.

Prior to joining the rPath team, Adam served as chief technology officer and vice president of engineering for Versata, Inc., a provider of business rule management products for enterprise applications. A serial entrepreneur, he has founded three technology companies including Verve, Inc., an early leader in the embedded business process engine space, which he brought to profitability and sold in late 2000. Brett studied Computer Science and Psychology at the University of Melbourne, Australia.

"It is exciting to join a company in its entrepreneurial stages and to be part of the force that propels it to success, said Adam. rPath has all the ingredients to become a significant player in the industry: the right products, the right team and the right timing.

rPath also announced today Matthew S. Wilson, a founding engineer of rPath, was elected to the Board of Software Freedom Conservancy, an organization composed of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) projects. The organization, which is run by its board of directors, is a fiscal sponsor of FOSS projects. It provides member projects with financial and administrative services while allowing the project to continue to make all of the technological and artistic decisions that go into building software.

Wilson is the primary author of the widely used Anaconda system installer. Previous to joining rPath, he led the Operating Systems Engineering team at Red Hat. He also led Red Hats certification programs with the Free Standards Group and federal government.

I am honored to have been chosen to serve in such a position, Wilson said. The Software Conservancys mission is one that I support and believe in as a co-founder of an open source company. I am excited to serve on the board of an organization that is committed to advancing the development of the Free and Open Source community.

rPaths strength is its people and our company is made up of diverse, highly skilled professionals who are passionate about what they do, said Billy Marshall, president and CEO of rPath. We are proud of Matts accomplishments and thrilled to add Bretts broad experience to our team.
