SAN FRANCISCO — March 9, 2006 – at the Intel Developer Forum - SWsoft, the leading provider of operating system virtualization and automation tools, today announced its Virtuozzo support of Intel® Virtualization Technology (VT) capabilities, including the recently unveiled Intel Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O (VT-d) specification.

By supporting Intel VT and Intel VT-d, Virtuozzo will offer customers additional levels of manageability, security, isolation and I/O performance.

“Building virtualization technology into the processor enables Virtuozzo to deliver higher functionality,” said Serguei Beloussov, CEO of SWsoft. “As Intel adds more technology like VT-d into its processor and chipsets, hardware vendors, software vendors and ultimately end users benefit from more robust virtualization solutions.”

“Intel Virtualization Technology is helping customers achieve better utilization of their hardware investments," said Lorie Wigle, Director of Marketing for Intel’s Server Platforms Group. “By incorporating support for Intel Virtualization Technology, SWsoft delivers OS-level virtualization which improves application compatibility and reliability.”

The SWsoft Virtuozzo product release with VT support is scheduled for later this year. Virtuozzo VT-d support will follow in conjunction with platform availability.

In addition to the close technology collaboration efforts between the two companies, Intel Capital is also an investor in SWsoft.

Virtualization Simplification
The proliferation of servers in the datacenter has led to increased complexity and costs. Virtualization helps to reverse this trend by dramatically reducing the need for adding physical servers (and their associated capital, power, software and management costs) by turning an existing single physical server into multiple isolated and secure virtual servers, enabling higher server utilization and availability.

Virtuozzo virtual servers perform and execute as independent servers with their own memory, I/O, configuration files, users and applications running on a single operating system. Virtuozzo management tools provide unified management of thousands of virtual servers on hundreds of physical servers.
