Daffodil Software, a Java database and replication technology company, today announced the beta release of Daffodil Replicator v1.7 with Push-Pull replication at SourceForge.net.

9th Mar, 2005 (Gurgaon, India): Daffodil Software, a Java database and replication technology company, today announced the beta release of Daffodil Replicator v1.7 with Push-Pull replication at SourceForge.net.

Daffodil Replicator is an Open Source data synchronization software that ensures high availability of data in environments that make use of heterogeneous databases. Replicator can either capture a data-source snapshot OR synchronize change to maintain a local database at remote client locations. It can also be used for sharing workload across enterprise database severs, by mirroring vital data on identical databases.

New Features in v1.7

* Pull replication - that allows client sites to pull Publisher (server) changes while ensuring that data changes by individual clients will not get updated to the main server.

* Push replication - that allows client sites to push their changes to the main server while ensuring that data changes by the server will not get updated to client sites.

* Different GUI for Publication Server and Subscription Server.

* Various performance improvements have been done - users can now take snapshot of millions of records.

Ever since the Open Sourcing of Daffodil Replicator by Daffodil Software around four months ago, Replicator project team have been rolling out new and improved versions on a regular basis. The latest version 1.7 is equipped with Push & Pull replication that caters to the needs of those users who do not want Publisher (Sever) and Subscriber (Client) changes to merge each other as in the case of Merge replication.

Apart from various performance enhancements, v1.7 has fixed major bugs related to System tables & column names, Parent-child relationship when adding tables for Publication and OutOfMemory problem in snapshot. Further, both Console and Developers Guides have been thoroughly revised to reflect the new features introduced. The source code and revised documents are available at: http://sourceforge.net/projects/daffodilreplica/
