<p>Gurgaon, India - February 10, 2005: Daffodil Software today announced the release of the PHP extension module for its Java database - Daffodil DB. With this move, Daffodil DB can now be used as a back-end for web-based applications, including websites.

The PHP extension for Daffodil DB provides an effective means for connecting to Daffodil DB server from or within PHP, the most powerful server-side, cross-platform, HTML-embedded scripting language. With this extension, any application (that requires a database) built in PHP can make use of Daffodil DB.

The first version of PHP extension has been tested on Linux and Windows, and is compatible with PHP 4.3.7 or above. The PHP extension has also been made available in One$DB, the open source version of Daffodil DB.

Though Daffodil DB's JDBC interface allows it to be accessed via the web, this new PHP interface will make it easier for users to exploit the advantages of a web-based database. The new module will allow users to build applications around PHP and Daffodil DB, and also enable easy migration of existing PHP applications or solutions to Daffodil DB. Further, users can take advantage of the Daffodil DB unique feature set, scalability, performance and ease of use in their PHP solution.

"We have been witnessing growing interest from PHP developers in regards to incorporating a Java database into their web infrastructure", commented Parveen Agarwal, Technical Manager at Daffodil."The development of the PHP interface should spur the development of open source software One$DB and PHP", he added.
