Databases were once the forgotten stepchild of the open-source family. Companies like Red Hat Inc. included database software with their Linux distribution disks, but the main focus was on the operating system, the kernel and the graphical interface. A database was just another add-on, like a Minesweeper clone. But now, companies and users are scrambling to realize the value locked up in quality, open-source database software.

RedHat 7.1 on Gateway Solo 5300 Notebook

I just got another system, which are mobile system, a Gateway Solo 5300. As usual, i dont run Win32 OS on all my systems. So i decided to wipe out Windows 2000 that come with the notebook and install Redhat 7.1 . It did goes smoothly, but needed some minor tweak. In this article i'll point out how it works.
